THE IMPORTANCE OF ENDANGERMENT & WHY IT'S AN ISSUE.

SECTION ONE: WHAT IS AN ENDANGERED SPECIES AND WHY IS IT AN ISSUE?

— The scientific notation of an endangered species is a species considered to be facing a very high risk of extinction in the wild.

— People often debate on whether or not we should try to stop the extinction of endangered species, arguments stating that, "We should care because they give importance and balance to the ecosystem, and help the environments stay safe and overall healthy...." and that, "Medicines were also crated from animals or plants, that we would not have if they were to go extinct. "

Other arguments, coming from sites such as the Washington Post, state, "... But we are a part of the biosphere just like every other creature, and our actions are just as volitional, their consequences just as natural. Conserving a species we have helped to kill off, but on which we are not directly dependent, serves to discharge our own guilt, but little else."

SECTION TWO: CAUSES AND EFFECTS OF THE ISSUE

Natural causes of the issue can be due to things such as loss of food or an increase in predation. Though, there have been more than enough times where a human has been the downfall of an endangered species. They can be purely accidental, such as running over species or creating new towns and accidentally chopping a tree where a species lived at.

Some may be purely on purpose, wanting or needing to cause harm towards certain species. An example of this is hunting animals for fur or food, or even experimenting on animals for their own scientific needs.

These can have short or long-term impacts on the species, and even the whole ecosystem if one species were wiped out. for example, if a certain species, like sheep, were wiped out in an environment, certain species, such as a wolf, would be suffered greatly as one of their main, or only food sources are now gone. This would force the entire ecosystem to shift around. This is only one example out of many of how badly affected we, as a whole, could become if we let a species die out entirely.

SECTION THREE: HOW WE ARE TRYING TO FIX THE ISSUE

To try and protect the animals who are already at the threat of extinction, there are such things as the "Extinction Laws", where if that law is put on a certain species it is, therefore, illegal to try to hunt or kill these animals, and if one does they will either get a fine & have to pay with money or worse. These laws were bypassed in 1973. There are also national sites where people are not allowed to cut down or chop trees, as it is therefore illegal. People who want to help the ecosystem and the world are very pushing towards getting people to stop cutting down the trees and to not hurt the animals. While others who do that for a living, such as lumberjacks or hunters, need to continue doing the things that they do to survive.
